Trek for Amarli - Sunday 24 August 2025
We are proud to announce that this year the Amarli Army is teaming up with the i98FM Illawarra 2025 Convoy for Trek for Amarli 2025!
Become a memebr of Amarli's Army and join us on the stunning 30km coastal walk from Stanwell Park to Wollongong Harbour, passing by Wollongong Hospital, with final destination and celebration at Wiseman Park Bowling Club.
Amarli was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder at just 8 months of age, called GRIK 2 (1 of only 3 recorded cases in the world). This rare condition has profoundly affected Amarli's quality of life, health, and development. She regulary has seizures due to her epilepsy, her lack of strength mean that even common colds and viruses can involve prolonged hospital stays, her fine motor and gross motor skills are affected, her inability to walk, speak and eat along with severe breathing difficulties mean that she requires 24/7 care.
Sadly Amarli's lung function continues to deteriorate to where she now suffers from chronic respiratory failure and is fully dependant on mechanical ventilation. Doctors have said that this will not improve and they have advised she will have a shortened life span.
But every day, Amarli continues to show us how strong she is. She continues to fight and prove all the doubters wrong. In support of Amarli and her ongoing fight, her family will be walking from Sydney Kids to Wollongong Hospital, raising funds for the i98FM Illawarra 2025 Convoy.
Amarli's Army will come together at Loaf Cafe, Stanwell Park from 6:00am on Sunday 24th August 2025. Shuttle buses are one way with pick up locations at Dapto Leagues Club and Wollongong Wiseman Park City Bowling Club - spaces are very limited - please secure your seat with your registration! First walkers will commence the Trek at 6:30am. Most walkers will arrive between 1pm and 3pm. Continue the celebrations with us at Wiseman Park City Bowling Club from 1pm with live music, raffles and fun for the kids.
Our Mission is to support Illawarra families in need through Convoy events and the Illawarra Community Foundation
To honour a dream - seeing Amarli's name proudly roll down Mount Ousley on the lead truck!
Continue to raise awareness and vital funds for the CureGRIN Foundation, with the hope of one day finding a cure for GRIN disorders
Together, we can make a difference - For Amarli, and for so many others.
