In memory of Mitchy GBM Fighter
⸻
From being the trucker rolling down the mountain to support Illawarra families in need, to becoming the trucker who needed that support himself — this is Mitch’s story.
Mitch was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer, glioblastoma, on 17 June 2023. He was given just 14–18 months to live, yet he fought for 2 years and 6 months — a miracle in itself, powered by pure determination and a heart of gold.
Sadly Mitch passed on 15 December 2025.
Exactly one month before Mitch passed, his mobility and speech were gone. But his spirit wasn’t. All he wanted was to take one more roll down the mountain with his truck fleet family — and we made it happen. That day meant everything to him, and to us.
Even through unimaginable times for our own family, Mitch never stopped thinking of others who were hurting. That’s just who he was.
The Illawarra Convoy exists to support families facing the unthinkable — and now we want to give back in honour of our Mitchy. This convoy is his legacy — one that will continue to lead on, remind us who we are, and show the strength of our community.
We want to raise as much as we can for the Illawarra Convoy — for the families who need it most — and to always remember: we are the Illawarra.
